This is difficult to post in general and on a public forum, but I feel it's necessary to inform those concerned loved ones and friends that the love of my life, MARTHA GONZALEZ was involved in a Hit and Run and was killed on 10-13-09. It has been mentioned all over the local Chicago news:
In memory of MARTHA GONZALEZ a fund was created at MB FINANCIAL Bank (1-888-422-6562) to assist w/funeral cost.
Surplus funds raised will go to help her debt and to the education of her children Max (4 yrs) & Marko (19 yrs). You can visit any MB location and deposit cash or check in MARTHA's name. Andrew Kudelka or Angelica Gonzalez are also acceptable.
If you have any problems contact me or Arlene Campos (312-421-5500) at the 1618 W. 18th St. MB Financial Pilsen location.
I will post funeral arrangements once we have had the time to this unfortunate situation.
The latest winner of my facebook commission contest is Juan Arevalo for guessing this quote correctly from the movie WINGS OF DESIRE:
"Every street has its borderline. Between each plot, there's a strip of no-man's-land disguised as a hedge or a ditch. Every home owner, or even every tenant nails his name plate on the door, like a coat of arms and studies the morning... paper as if he were a world leader...Everyone carries his own state with him, and demands a toll when another wants to enter."
The film WINGS OF DESIRE (titled “Der Himmel über Berlin” in German) is the far superior, original film directed by Win Wenders, remade into the sappy, After School, Hallmark Special called CITY OF ANGELS, almost 10 years later. WINGS OF DESIRE also spawned the less brooding FAR AWAY, SO CLOSE and an interesting relationship with Bono and U2 that among other things led to Wenders directing a Bono-led screenplay called MILLION DOLLAR HOTEL.
Juan Arevalo picked the love sick angel, Damiel, played by Bruno Ganz of WINGS OF DESIRE as the subject of the commission sketch.
